Description:
Offered is a 15 piece Nippon porcelain tea set bearing the Noritake Morimura Brothers M in wreath stamp. This porcelain dinnerware features a lovely hand painted gold floral and leaf design. There is raised gold beading around the rims and centers. The porcelain is bright white with cream accents. This set is likely from the later part of the Nippon period.
Size:
Tea pot and lid, 2 3/4 H by 3 W (without lid, handle and spout)
Creamer, 2 1/8 H by 2 3/8 W (without spout and handle)
Sugar bowl and lid, 2 3/8 H by 3 W (without lid and handles)
5 cups, 2 H by 3 7/8 W (6 are pictured but one set broke)
5 saucers, 5 1/2 diameter
Marks:
Each cup and the sugar bowl have the green stamp, the other pieces are unmarked.
Condition:
No cracks, chips, staining or crazing. The heavy gold decorations such as the larger flowers, leaves and beading show little sign of wear. There is wear to the gold trim areas, especially on the knobs, handles and fine lines. There is also a very small flake on the teapot where it looks like it got bumped.
